Charles W. Berard Undergraduate Scholarship in Natural Resources & Environmental Law
In the journey of life, we are fortunate when we come across people who are very special, who are "givers" who do what they can to help others and make the world a better place.
The Charles W. Berard Undergraduate Scholarship in Natural Resources & Environmental Law was established by Vermilion Energy to honour the memory of Charlie Berard (1954-2009), Vermilion's corporate secretary (1997-2009) and close friend.
One of the most practical and bright legal minds in Calgary, Charlie lost a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 54 years old.
Charlie was a "giver" who did what he could to help make the world a better place. Whether in the boardroom or in the community, Charlie always personified our core values of Excellence, Trust, Respect and Responsibility.
The scholarship is offered annually to continuing undergraduate students entering third year in the Faculty of Law at the University of Calgary, with a demonstrated interest in Natural Resources & Environmental Law.
