If you equip the right people with the proper tools and support – as the Vermilion Energy / YWCA Skills Training Centre does – the chances of breaking the cycle of poverty are high.
We are proud of the combined $4M commitment by Vermilion and the "Friends of Vermilion" – our company's founders, board of directors, executive, and staff – to the YWCA of Calgary. Our investment is helping to equip women with marketable skills needed to become self-reliant and economically stable.
The 20-week pre-employment program offers carpentry training, mentorship, and employment support. Applicants may also qualify for a living wage, housing, and childcare.
Lives changed. Families strengthened. That is really what this program is about, but a project of this magnitude cannot be sustained on our funds alone.
