Sustainable development and CSR

Sustainable development and CSR

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT - An international concept

How to reconcile economic and social progress while supporting the natural balance of the planet –  to answer this essential question, the concept of sustainable development was born.

Sustainable development is defined as a mode of development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs (Brundtland Report definition – 1987).

CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) - A Voluntary Governance Attitude

CSR is the voluntary integration by companies of social, environmental and economic concerns into their activities and their relations with stakeholders (European Commission definition – 2011)

Did you know: stakeholders are the people/groups/organizations that have an impact on or can be impacted by the company’s actions. This is the company’s ecosystem.
